About
Too many tabs quietly wreck your focus and your computer's performance. Focus Limit fixes both, for free.
π« CAP YOUR TABS
Set a limit β globally, per window, or both β and choose whether new tabs over that limit get blocked outright (Hard mode) or just gently flagged (Soft mode).
π§ BUILT FOR A SCATTERED BRAIN, NOT AGAINST IT
When you hit your limit, you don't get shamed β you get a calm dashboard listing every open tab so you can close one in a click, a one-time "just this once" pass for when you genuinely need it, and snooze buttons (5/15/30/60 min) for when you're doing something that's honestly multi-tab.
β± FOCUS SESSIONS
Start a timed session with a stricter tab cap (e.g. 25 minutes, max 5 tabs). It reverts automatically when the timer ends.
π AUTO-GROUPING BY CATEGORY
Turn it on and Chrome's native tab groups take over β Social, Work, Dev, Media, Shopping, News, AI Tools, Travel, Gaming, Health & Fitness, Finance, and Reference tabs sort themselves as you browse. Add your own domain rules for anything not covered, or assign any open tab to a group with one click.
π΄ IDLE AUTO-CLOSE
Tabs you've genuinely forgotten about get closed automatically after a timeout you set β never the tab you're looking at, never one you've locked (right-click β Lock this tab), and never one playing audio. Every auto-closed tab lands in a "Recently Closed" list with one-click restore.
π DUPLICATE DETECTION
One click closes duplicate tabs of the same page, keeping the one you used most recently.
πΎ SAVED SESSIONS
Bundle a whole window's tabs into a named session you can restore later, without keeping them open now. Perfect for parking a research project or trip-planning tabs you're not ready to lose.
πΌ CALM NEW TAB PAGE
Replaces Chrome's default new-tab feed with something quieter β a clock, a plain search box, your live tab count, quick links to your tab groups, and an optional rotating photo wallpaper (credited, free Unsplash photos).
π SMART NOTIFICATIONS
Tab-limit alerts come with one-tap actions β snooze 15 minutes or jump to the dashboard β right on the notification. Idle auto-close notifications include an instant Undo.
β¨οΈ KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
Ctrl+Shift+F to jump to the dashboard, Ctrl+Shift+S to snooze 15 minutes β customizable at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
NO ACCOUNTS. NO PAYWALLS. NO DATA COLLECTION.
Every setting lives in your own browser, synced only through your own Chrome account the same way bookmarks are. Nothing is ever sent to any server we operate, because we don't operate one β the only network requests this extension makes are loading the optional wallpaper photos you choose to enable. If Focus Limit helps you, a coffee is always appreciated β but nothing is ever gated behind one.
